Who we are: The Bedford Area Resource Council (BARC) is a network of non-profit, for profit, state and local government agencies, and citizens who serve the Town and County of Bedford. Meetings are held monthly to share ideas, information and resources. Cooperative, inter-agency efforts are planned and initiated to maximize community resources and minimize duplication of services. BARC provides a platform that results in stronger collaboration and coordination of programs to address unmet community needs, leading to a positive impact on the health and well-being of the Bedford Area.
Mission: To address community need through collaboration among community partners and develop resources necessary for a sustainable community. Vision: The Bedford Area Resource Council envisions our community as a place where every person is healthy, connected and supported. Organization Summary: The Bedford Area Resource Council (BARC) network is diverse and includes over 300 people. Any citizen or organization can join, be placed on the email distribution list, attend monthly meetings and join Action Groups. Anchor Institution: The Bedford Community Health Foundation is the 501(c)(3) that serves as the Anchor Institution. This Foundation provides administrative support, website coordination, and can act as the fiscal agent for grants. Steering Committee was formed to develop monthly meeting agendas, schedule presentations, coordinate Action Groups, provide consultation/networking for grant research/writing and overall resource council management (website, Facebook, and historical documents). Member Organizations are the network of non-profit, for profit, state and local government agencies, and citizens who serve the Town and County of Bedford. These are the organizations that participate in monthly BARC meeting and have designated people who are active on Action Groups. Action Groups are created by the Steering Committee to encourage development and focus on coordination of programs to increase positive impact on the health and well-being for Bedford citizens. These groups can be developed from needs identified in the triennial Community Health Needs Assessment completed by Central Health or as needs are identified. Community Contributors are included in the organization. These Contributors are private organizations or codified teams that are not specific to one government or service specific agency. These are groups that existed prior to the development of BARC and have substantial involvement in the organization’s mission and vision. |
